Just adding another Atrac + Rear Diff Locked hack'ed FJ. Used the solder/shrink wrap/extended wire method. Went for a little test drive and all is working as designed (or should have been designed).
What we need now is a graphic artist to make a logo/decal to identify the hack/mod enabled FJ's. Something like: "ATRAC+Rear Lock Enabled" or...
I guess some might not want the dealer to easily identify the hack but all I can say is that from my initial impression, it is the best mod the FJ can have for exceptional off-road capability. And, I'll be proud to let others know of the hack and how to perform it.
Has anyone figured out why the ABS light doesn't come on after this mod? Thanks.
Yes, because the computer doesn't know the locker is on, so it doesn't trigger the ABS off. Doesn't realy matter anyways, because ABS doesn't turn on below 5 mph to begin with, and you shouldn't be using both at any speed above 5 mph.

You are a dull boy because you are an Aggie, but this Chris isn't cause he's a Longhorn! You have running boards like my Durango and I have rock rails.
Anyways I guess I'll get off my lazy butt and go over to my friends house to solder this together and use shrink wrap.
I read a while back on this thread that you should not exceed 5 mph with this mod; is this written in stone? I mean, is say 20mph up a steep icy hill ok? 5mph does not leave much chance of gaining any momentum.
Recommended probably because Toyota says the rear locker should not be used above 5mph. Now I've run it in the sand over 5mph and it locked. Use your best judgement based on terrain I guess.

It could be that Toyota realizes that with the "Rear Locked" the other anti-skid options are turned off. Then with both rear wheels spinning exactly the same speed, it really increases the chances of severe sliding and skidding of the FJ at higher speeds.
Just yesterday evening I was on some wet grass and thought I would play around a little, Locked the Rear, turned the steering wheel a little, and punched the gas and yee-haw, a fast great circular spinning slide. This makes great doughnuts. Both the wife and the dog in the back really freaked out. But I had fun. Do this at your own risk and I am not recommending that any one do this! Just pointing it out.
