I have read this whole thread and maybe I missed it but...

Is this mod compatible with both auto and manual tranny?

People who have done this mod, does it actually work and is not just "fooling" the dash lights?
See

And "Proof"
Spring Creek Offroad (Spring, TX)

Yes, it seems to be both for Auto and Manual. And it seems as though quite a few have tried it and say it works great.

Doing mine tonight.

Re: Rear Locker + ATRAC

Yeah the climb was easier with Atrac + rear locker. Kinda nerve racking with all the noise.

Probably going out there today <keeps fingers crossed>.

You are a dull boy because you are an Aggie, but this Chris isn't cause he's a Longhorn! You have running boards like my Durango and I have rock rails.

Anyways I guess I'll get off my lazy butt and go over to my friends house to solder this together and use shrink wrap.
Did you actually go to UT or are you a poser just like every other bandwagon Texas fan in Texas?

You just compared my FJ to a Durango because I have some running boards to help out the ladies that came to me without any cost on my part? Hmm WHY would you put a sh!tty spacer lift kit on that compresses your front springs soooo much that you know you are going to have problems with it in the future, OH WAIT CAUSE YOU GOT IT FREE!!!

At least we have one thing in common, we both agree you can't spell Douche without OU.

Re: Rear Locker + ATRAC

2001-2002 Electrical Engineering, but got lost in ROTC and then the Army. Will return later :-P.

Yeah free does make sense eh? Just about to make the first payment on the vehicle. Still leaves time for alot of mods.

It doesn't compress the springs. It sits on top. We'll see if that does any damage to it in the future. Will probably go with coilovers in the front and keep the rear setup (which was not spacers).

You picked at me in another thread so I thought I might return the favor .

Oh i have no problem with the picking... Electrical Engineering huh? Started MEchanical here.

Yeah and i am about to make my first payment too.... ehhh. Sucks don't it?

I am familiar with the Rough Country Setup and i really like the rear setup, (kinda the same as my ToyTec) But I was under the impression it had two spacers in the front, one above and below. That would seem a lot better. Did it just come with the longer bolts? I wonder if since it changes the angles in there if that will have some kind of adverse affect? I hope not.

I would love to buy some of those Walker Evan Coilovers but alas right now I am going to stick with what i got until i make some payments and figure out where my funds will be going.

It's all in good fun, wonderful little rival (not much of one anymore, ya'll always kicking our butts!) but at least we didn't attend Tortilla Tech out in Lubbock!

Re: Rear Locker + ATRAC

I had a friend that graduated from OSU in ME and found a good job in Houston. I don't know if I want to go back for EE or if I'll go ME.

Had some exes and other friends that graduated from A&M and some that still attend for their graduate degree.

It does have longer bolts and an aluminum spacer. I got it realigned and we'll see at Spring if there seems to be any extra strain on the parts. Perhaps you only know when you break something though :-(.

I thought you were coming down to Crystal Beach that one time? If so, what happened?

Yes, because the computer doesn't know the locker is on, so it doesn't trigger the ABS off. Doesn't realy matter anyways, because ABS doesn't turn on below 5 mph to begin with, and you shouldn't be using both at any speed above 5 mph.
If you turn on just the rear locker after the mod is the ABS canceled? When running sand dunes, we go way over 5 mph with the locker on...

Trust us... it works.

edit> and for the record, just last night I was flogging my FJ up a huge sand dune in the desert with the rear diff locked pinned in low range, 4th gear, 5000 RPM... God the FJ just loves it. Especially great when we watch a huge F250 and his buddy, a big Dodge forced to party at the bottom of the dune because the trucks would not make the hill. (not even close)

The FJ just flies up it.. even with tires at highway pressure.

Yep it works. I just tested mine on a very small area with sugar sand with a small hill. Tested before, after stopping in the middle of the hill and restarting up the hill, in reverse even. With just the Rear Locked, the FJ has a hard time getting going. I could watch the front wheels and see one never spinning. •••• AFTER MOD. Same scenario but the FJ digs in and the front starts to rattle and both front wheels spin (at slightly different times) and up and over a heck of a lot easier.

Man o Man, do I wish we could hit some of those dunes your playing on... Here in Florida dunes don't get very tall....lol. Could you tell us where that they are for a future trip? Thanks
