ok. I already put in the A-Trac button, the A-trac light on the dash illuminates etc. but does that mean mine has the A-Trac or do they all have
the A-Trac light in the dash?
The light on the dash is the key to a successful install. You are good to go.

right on! Atrac for $54. that'll work! Hey I heard that one of the 4 Wheeler magazines rated the A-trac worthless, what's up with that??

They were probably wheeling at the local mall when they were testing it.

I saw that, too. If you notice, the pics are mostly in loose sand. I've found that the A-trac doesn't help much in the really loose stuff. You NEED the wheelspin in the loose stuff.

I read that in Peterson's and couldn't believe it...they beat on the FJ for no reason. They did say however that the FJ was the best in the loose stuff and sand.

I don't think the mag ratings are all of that- the Year that the Rubicon came out ( 2003 ) a Mercedes wagon was offroader of the year - so it doesn't make sense- oh and another thing- the KIA was high on the list on the Peterson's results. Theorhetically, based on thier criteria the Mercedes would be an improvement over the FJ ( C'mon- there is no contest here off road)

I personally have witnessed and driven the FJ on some stuff that it took tons of skinny pedal to get through on my Rubicon where the FJ just rolled right through- so I know that the A-Trac is a powerful tool for you FJ peeps. I also saw it up against a Hummer H3 - the FJ smoked it.

Re: Rear Locker + ATRAC

yea, that makes sense that the mags doesn't make sense a lot of the times haha, I don't remember which vehicle but there was a vehicle in a close 3rd that if I remember correctly was no where near known for off road capabilities. I've yet to try mine, just got mine before the holidays so no time. I can't wait, being a former Jeep owner built pretty heavily and locked front and back, I can't wait to see how the FJ does!

Great...and be sure to report back on your thoughts of the FJ vs. Jeep. I love getting feedback from past/present owners of competing vehicles...those opinions mean a lot more IMO.

Re: Rear Locker + ATRAC

Tired of reading and searching for correct pics of this. Attached is a pic of my dash. I have a 6M and a serial # of 32xxx. FJ Came with R locking diff and I installed a A-trac switch myself. I don't have anywhere close by to try this off road, so I'm trying to go by what the dash is telling me.

It looks to me like my A-Trac and Rear diff lock will both work together. Am I reading the lights correctly?? Thanks in advance.......Don

Yes.. You also have a full tank of Gas, not a lot of miles yet, and you need to warm up the engine.
