Hmmm. Now why does Toyota not allow them to be on together as stock? There has to be a reason...

I'm not sure it's a good reason, but along the same lines as Bill, I think I'm not going to mess with it. This is the first new vehicle I've ever bought and therefore I don't want to do anything that Toyota might throw back into my face to void a warranty.
If my diff blows up at 20K miles I don't want to give them ANY reason to say, "Sorry, it looks like you got a little happy w/ your wire cutters and therefore you're SOL." Granted, I highly doubt this will affect anything...but I wouldn't hold it against them if something breaks and they try and play that game. Plus, I know you can put it back and many people might not see the handy work...but if asked point blank, "Have you done any mods on your FJ?" I'm not willing to lie just to save a few bucks.
Maybe years from now once the warranty is gone I'll be a little more daring, but as of now I don't see myself needing this feature enough to justify the risk I might be taking with warranty. It would be a different story if I didn't already believe the FJ is VERY capable off-road (at least for my purposes).
For me, it's a parallel issue to the engine. I think the engine is very good now, but I would like more HP. Even if I decide to go the SC route, I'm not even going to think about it until after the warranty has expired (and by then I hope a V8 will be available). For those brave souls out there, I say good luck and please keep us posted.
