Exhaust Mod.

Removed my muffler the other day to give me a little more room when out in the mountains. Put in a glass pack and sounds way throatier with the TRD exhaust I have on my rig and a noticeable change in the throttle response on my 6 speed. Any others experimented with there exhaust? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

Wow, old post. How does it sound? Run? What brand glasspack? I was thinking the same thing for clearance.

I highly doubt the OP still frequents the site with being a member since 2006 and only having under a 100 posts. JMO

Really? Kidding right?

I'll answer anyway... you're kidding right? A glass pack is a cheap, straight through muffler. Ever heard a redneck pickup truck that sounded loud and like crap... probably stock motor with glass packs.

I would NEVER want a glass pack on an FJ... imagine a deeper sounding Honda Civic with the fart can exhaust.

Maybe with a turbo (turbo acts a muffler some what)... but no...

But seriously... you were kidding right?

Re: Exhaust Mod.

There are many different glass packs and many different sounds. That Thrush and Cherry Bomb, even Walker contentental(sp?). very different spunds. A cherry bomb or a walker might sound fine in the FJ... Ron

Re: Exhaust Mod.

i've heard decent glasspacks, usually on v8's by some 6's too, you just gotta hear them before you put them on so they don't sound like an i4 with a foldgers can set on the back

Re: Exhaust Mod.

True.. less cylinders is always worse for sound; and more picky.. Ron

Re: Exhaust Mod.

Some v6 engines don't sound too bad with a loud exhaust especially when it has a Supercharger.
