4x4 / Off-Road TechThis section contains all discussion related to taking the FJ Cruiser in Off-Road situations, 4x4 applications and any armor modifications.
I am getting ready to build an FJ for SEMA and would like to hear some ideas for the best performance and 4x4 accessories. Who make the best (and tallest) lift kit, shocks, engine upgrades, etc. The focus of this FJ will be the audio system (I work for an audio manufacturer) but we want to go big with the lift and accessories as well.
I say go with the full All-Pro lift with the Walker Evens shocks. Not only is a good system, but it looks cool as well with the painted/anodized bits...
It's purely for show but we want to do it right so that once it's done the show thing it could be on the road. Besides we want it to be cool! I really like the All Pro stuff. The vehicle is coming from Toyota and they really want to emphasize the rock crawling ability of the FJ so I think this might be a good direction. Thanks for the help and keep the suggestions coming. I would be happy to post pics of the progress.
Having work previously in the car audio industry, my suggestion would be to mount four polished aluminum speakers cans on top with speakers one directions and KC's of PIA's in the other and be able to rotate them back and forth. For the interior I would try and stick with Marine grade audio componets so that you can still off that rugged all weather type of performance that many are buying the FJ for. Also look under the rear cargo area, there is plenty of room for a trick install to hide most componets and yet maintain cargo capacity. And with this big flat dash area if you can't make this thing produce a good sound stage, well ...... Just a few thoughts. Good luck

[b]GOFJGO has been sold but I plan to stay with the forum and possible wait to see if they come out with a new model
Thank you for your inquiry with Total Chaos Fabrication Inc. Our Long Travel Suspension System for the 2005+ Tacoma 6-lug and 2003+ 4runner does work on the new FJ Cruiser. One of the higher-end aftermarket shock companies is currently building an FJ to race the Baja 1000 and is utilizing our kit for the front suspension. The max lift that you will be able to get is around 4"
I would get with Donahoe Racing for the lift. They have front shocks in production and rears are supposed to be out in two weeks. They also have the billet aluminum UCA's that are bad ass. Lots of choices in bumpers here:
I think if you want to draw attention to your booth, buck the trend of jacked up, big tired, racked and lighted up FJ's. Lifted and offroad versions of the FJ will be dime a dozen, I would drop it (airbags?) and big rims to start and go from there.
Before the rest of you start warming up your flame throwers, the only reason I say this is, that at a big show like this you want to stand out from the rest of the herd. What better way to do it than to have a lowered FJ at your booth?
