Re: The OFFICIAL 6inch vs 3inch lift debate

Thanks for all of the lift information. I went shopping but could not afford lifts at this time. Four Wheel Drive Parts offered a five inch lift, but with the new rims and tires I would need it became cost prohibative this year. Next year I will probably get the three inch lift. Any recommendations on brand names for quality three inch lifts? And will I have to do anything else to the vehicle if I get the three inch lifts?

Do you guys run SSRs on the street?
Did you remove the flairs due to contact?
Any spacers?
We run ours everywhere. You can get by by just cutting away a little of the fender flares instead of taking them completely off. IMO I liked it better without the OEM fender flares. Now I have bushwhackers. No spacers. I stayed with the tall and skinny tires that will work on my side in the snow up here during the winter. Mtbcoach is running the same size 35/10.5/r16's

If he had a 6" lift, he won't have been stuck on the ledge.
A 6inch lift would have only raised his bumper a little bit higher on the ledge. I just watch the video and his ARB was never on the ledge.

As for him being high centered, can you please give a time in the video where this happened because i must have missed it as well.

And i run 34inch superswampers with OME lift for about 1/4 of the year, have them on right now, no rub-a-dub-dub.

There are 2 ledges. The FJ is high centered 5 seconds in and remains high centered until the DF tire grabs the second ledge. TTT FJ have stock tires, so 3" more lift and 35" tires would have kept the belly off the first ledge.

The hill is steeper than it looks, and we all thought he was going to go over.

I have a 3" lift because I keep the FJ in the garage.

Re: The OFFICIAL 6inch vs 3inch lift debate

3" more lift isn't going to necessarily give the belly more clearance. If the bumper was what got caught up I would agree with you, but it didn't. I have yet to see a post of 3" vs. 6" with measurements. Until we do everyone will just continue to post up videos like yours and say a 3" will have trouble with this or a 6" would have made that.

I did a 3" as well so I could fit in garages, but other than approach angle I have yet to see the clear benefits of a 6"
