ARB Winch

I was planning to go with the ARB bull bar bumper. They said they could mount the ARB 9000 winch in it. Don't know anything about ARB winches. Any feedback?

aaaa??? I'm pretty sure ARB doesn't make winches.... I know that the main one they build to use with there bumpers is a warn... but ya I've never heard of an ARB winch....

Actually the winch is a T=Max. Also made in Australia.

Re: ARB Winch

What about other brands of winches? Everyone talks about Warn, but Costco has a 8k winch for $299. Does anyone know about usefulness/reliability of these other ones?

Oh ok. Ya thats what I have on my rig... There good winches, truth be told they were designed and tested in australia but are made in China. Good winches... They rivel warn in specifications & performance except for initial line speed when the winch isn't under load. this is where warn is twice as fast, but once you put it under load the line speeds are neck and neck, same with the amp draw...... Oh and it will fit in an ARB bumper just fine...

The T-Max winch will mount into the ARB Cruiser bumper, but the clutch handle CANNOT be rotated like the Warn, so it interferes with the A/C condenser lines, and is VERY DIFFICULT to accessthrough the bumper hole. Although we've used many T-Max winches in other applications, certain ARB bumpers do not allow enough space btwn bumper and vehicle for the clutch handle to clear. The FJC is one of those situations...

The clutch handle can be rotated, its just harder to do than it is with a warn.... warns have just a few quick bolts to undo and then your there, were as T-max you have to basically take apart the whole clutch side of the winch....

Re: ARB Winch

Get a Warn M8000. They are great winches and offer tried and true preformance. And if you get into needing more power than that buy a snatch block or just dont be there. Whatever you do though, make sure you keep the cable wrapped as close as the way it came from the factory to keep it in optimal preformance.

Re: ARB Winch

For 300 bones, even if the Costco winch sucks ass, it will probably make it a few seasons if you take care of it. Can't be that bad.

Re: ARB Winch

I was also looking at the Warn 9.5. Price is not a problem. How would this work with the ARB bumper?
