The same thing just happened here in St Augustine. The County finished the plan just in time to save beach driving. We are only allowed to drive on the beach between 8AM and 8PM. The police usually start making you leave the beach at 6:30PM so they can get everyone out and lock the gates at the beach ramps. This has been threated to happen at OBX for the last 5 or 10 years (along with the new state salt water fishing license). Hopefully the Park Service will get their plan written down and submitted in time to save beach driving. We lost the use of Anastasia State Park for beach driving and it was one of the best fishing spots here.
