A friend of mine actually got a station shut down because they were selling regular in their premium pumps. He has a Viper with a built motor and when he filled up he noticed his timing was way back...he called up the consumer department (forget the exact name) and when they tested the pumps..they found regular in the premium slot...several times!
I am curious because I want to know what options I have in case premium is not available or the octane difference varies. From what I am seeing, I will probably run 93 and measure the mileage, if it is low after break-in (initial because we all know 100k miles is really when they break in ;-P ) and go from there.
Very true statement on the timing, Toyota has one smart ECU, it will compensate for knock and retard timing if necessary.
