Check out Ski packages for Durango Mountain Resort, formerly knows as Purgatory. Most hotels offer free transportation from the airport and back, and nightly shuttles run into downtown Durango for dining, shopping, etc.. Durango is only 70 miles from Ouray where the FJ Summit is held.

You can take a train ride on the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway. If you do this I would look into doing it just one way. Taking it to and from makes for a long day. I also recommend taking the family on a sleigh ride or snow mobile tour or both.

I used to live in Durango for many years and I know you will not be disappointed. In fact check out the college there. Durango is quite the place to attend college. Moab and Lake Powell are only 3 hours away. Denver is a only a 6 hour drive. I would consider Durango as the recreation capital of Colorado. I can say that because I live outside of Boulder and grew up in Denver. Rafting, kayaking, hiking, fishing, Mtn Biking, Camping, skiing, snowmobiling, climbing, and of course off roading. All within minutes of town. The town has a real dynamic community feel to it as well. Not too many towns in Colorado have all that in their backyard.

Durango would be the ultimate place to be an FJ owner, or if your kids are in college there, an FJ visitor. Some of the most amazing mountain passes are there as well as Moab just a few hours away.

The other recommendations are pretty good as well if you are starting out flying into Denver.

You can message me anytime if you would like more info about Durango.

Have fun!
