Re: Mirror mounted CB installed

I needed to install a CB for some group runs. I could not find a location I liked on the forum so I decided on mounting at the headliner. I used a piece of aluminum 3/16” and shaped it to fit the curve from the mirror up the headliner. Mounting with the mirror allows for the mirror break-away to release the CB if needed. The Cobra 19 is light (20 oz.) and inexpensive less than $40. By cutting a hole in the aluminum bracket the size of the raised mounting location for the mirror then using the mirror to trap the bracket (you must shim the mirror mount out the thickness of bracket material) holds bracket tight. I mounted the antenna like the Bandi mount with cable entering at the rubber tube connecting door to body then thru Jack area to and under scuff plates to A pillar then up along windshield to radio. I ran power and PA cables along windshield and down A pillar to fuse block.

I plan on mounting the same on the headliner and now I don't have to cut the headliner to do it. Thanks

Nice mounting job, but that dangling cord would drive me nuts. I'd have to rig up something to contain it. Still, I like the CB's placement.
I don't like the dangling cord either so I'm modifying the Cobra to run the mic cord out the back and it will come out the side of the center console. I'll post pics when I'm done.
