Just a note to add to #1 Ahtanum access can be made thru the Yakima Valley from Tampico. See the Ahtanum State forest section on
Ceg Ranch for maps to the area. Click on Eastern Washington Offroad Forum.
The Hwy 12 trailhead near Rimrock Lake has some the toughest 4wheel trails around and you better be willing to take damage. (See short and dirty )
However there is some great mtn views on the service and logging roads.
Also #28 Rattlesnake Bethel Ridge has access from Hwy 410 Chinook Pass at the Nile Junction. Timber Wolf Mtn is a place we like to go. Haven't explored any of the side trails yet though.
