Re: turn the DRL's OFF!
Just to add a little life to a very long thread, here's two reasons why I'd turn them off (temporarily)
1. I used to be in the habit of flashing my lights off twice to tell a passing big-rig that it was okay to get in my lane. Truckers like that, it's a bit friendlier than flashing hi-beams. With DRL's I click my lights off but they stay on. Now at night, I'll be able to communicate with my lights again.
2. When spashing thru mud alot I'll turn them off. I've noticed that since they are always on, they are hot. So they get coated quick when muddy water spashes them. The mud can cake on pretty good too, layer after layer. A few times I've gone thru some elbow geease and a spare t-shirt cleaning my headlights off before driving home.
Besides that, I'll leave them on for safety. I lost the last vehicle I had because an idiot driver hit me.
