Re: Bumper Hight

Sorry, one more thing. According to a 2006 article from Forbes Auto:

"The federal government regulates bumper heights for new passenger cars, but not light trucks, pickups or SUVs, although this might change sometime soon. The NHTSA is currently researching the matter of vehicle compatibility and could enact new standards in the near future. In the meantime, several automakers have redesigned their largest SUVs for compatibility or moved toward more consistency in bumper heights across their lineups so that their smallest, lowest cars are compatible with their largest SUVs."

"The industry has agreed to adopt voluntary guidelines, said NHTSA spokesman Rae Tyson, referring to the 2003 good-faith agreement to adopt sweeping design changes toward crash structures more compatible with those of passenger cars. “Though there are not any federal regulations pending to address this issue directly.” The new federal side-impact standards being developed will also address the issue of vehicle compatibility."
