I had run new wires for the light since I was running new wires for the heaters and I had not investigated using the existing wires. I think that would certainly be an option because the wires for the light have to originate inside the cab!
Here is a closer look at the main door harness after it comes into the cab.
This is what is behind the passenger side kick panel. It's hard to see in the
pic, but I bet you will find the light wires in there.
The mirror lights use a yellow wire with a brown stripe and little silver specs.
I did not experiment, but you may be able to tap it here and save the effort of going into the door.
The light bulbs I got were just standard low wattage "168" wedge bulbs I picked up. Unfortunatly I threw away the package already with the exact part number on it. They are nothing special, any auto parts store will sell them.
