Yup that's run and size stamp on raw alum.
You can clean that up easy. WD40 on a 00 steel wool. It WONT scratch, you will get a polished look and will burnish it slightly (won't turn white and oxidize to fast)
TRUST me on this, I have over 4000' of truss we do this to every summer..
