I just had mine reset yesterday. The chief mechanic at Toyota said that it will relearn in time on it's own, just not as fast as it would if you have the learned values reset (relearn ECM). After it is reset, they recommend that you drive around a while, varying speeds as you go, so it will start to relearn your gearing. That is why I believe this to be important especially when larger tires are put on.

Your performance and gas mileage are going to be better if you start from a clean slate in the computer memory.
