When will tolls for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge begin?
Tolling is in effect on the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge as of 4 a.m. July 16, 2007. Tolls are collected for drivers traveling eastbound from Gig Harbor to Tacoma.
Tolls are not collected on the 1950 bridge for drivers traveling westbound from Tacoma to Gig Harbor.

How much is the toll?
The toll schedule proposed by the Washington State Transportation Commission was formalized July 9, 2007. The toll schedule is based on the number of vehicle axles, and varies depending on the method of payment. Presently, there is a discount for Good To Go! customers.
The schedule is as follows:
2 axle vehicles with Good To Go!: $1.75 (without Good To Go! is $3)
3 axle vehicles with Good To Go!: $2.65 (without Good To Go! is $4.50)
4 axle vehicles with Good To Go!: $3.50 (without Good To Go! is $6)
5 axle vehicles with Good To Go!: $4.40 (without Good To Go! is $7.50)
6+ axle vehicles with Good To Go!: $5.25 (without Good To Go! is $9)
In addition, the toll schedule includes a provision for local law enforcement and local emergency service providers to receive a toll exemption when responding to or returning from emergency calls. Non-emergency trips are subject to the applicable toll. Washington State Patrol vehicles assigned to the portion of State Route 16 corridor that includes the Tacoma Narrows Bridge would be granted a toll exemption.
The Transportation Commission is the toll setting authority. Tolls must reimburse the state gas tax fund that pays off the bonds used to finance the construction of the bridge and pay for the bridge's ongoing operation and maintenance costs. The Transportation Commission intends to maintain the current toll schedule through June 30, 2008, but can re-evaluate the schedule at anytime. More information can be found on their web site:

How are tolls collected?
Drivers can pay the toll electronically or manually. The easiest way to pay tolls is with a prepaid Good To Go! electronic toll account. Information and an online application are available on the Good To Go! web site. Good To Go! customers travel non-stop, at highway speeds, in the electronic toll collection lanes.
Drivers who pay cash will drive in the right hand lanes and pull into one of six manual lanes to pay the toll to an attendant just west of the SR 16 main lanes. At the tollbooth, drivers will have the option of paying by cash, electronically, or by credit card.

How do I pay the toll at the 24th Street Ramp?
Tolls are only collected electronically at the 24th Street on-ramp. So, you must have a Good To Go! account if you enter SR 16 at 24th Street. All other drivers will need to drive west to enter SR 16 at 36th Street or Olympic Drive, upstream from the toll plaza, in order to pull to the right lanes of the plaza and pay the toll to an attendant.

How do I pay tolls in the HOV lane ?
The HOV lane is open to motorcyclists and vehicles with two or more people. We encourage carpools and vanpools to use Good To Go!. Although the HOV lane is not exclusively for Good To Go! customers, you must have Good To Go! if you pass through the toll zone in the HOV lanes. If you do not have Good To Go!, you will need to pull out of the HOV lane into the right hand lane about 1/2 mile before the toll plaza in order to stop and pay a toll attendant.

What do I do if I miss the toll ?
You need to contact customer service immediately (1-866-936-8246). The only way to pay a missed toll is to contact customer service and establish a Good To Go! account. This option is only available for the hours immediately following the missed toll. Once the missed toll transaction is entered to the violations system, customer service will not be able to post the missed toll to an account. The Washington State Patrol is the toll enforcement agency and unpaid tolls are subject to a citation and a $49 fine.

What happens if someone drives throught the toll plaza without paying ?
An image of the vehicle license plate is captured when a driver does not stop to pay the toll. A toll infraction will be issued by the Washington State Patrol to the registered owner of the vehicle. Toll infractions are reported to the Pierce County Court and carry a $49 fine.
