Re: need a resource for box building

I'm currently working on one of these as well based on info from various websites. Here's what I've done so far:

Tape the passenger side recess where the box will go thoroughly with blue masking tape, being sure to get it in the mounting holes (remove the hanger things). You will need to make a front part to the box (behind the seat) using some cardboard to lay the fiberglass on.

Mask everything else with plastic

Laid up 3 layers of fiberglass cloth (easier to work with than mat)

Popped the fiberglass shell out (this is the back of the box)

Reinforce shell with some more layers and ribs

Ordered a 3/4" MDF speaker ring and terminals off e-bay

To do:
Mount ring with dowels and then stretch fleece

Apply more fiberglass on the inside

Sand smooth

I plan to cover it with bed liner.

This will come to about $75 I'll let you know how it looks.
