What exactly are you riding?

If you have 1 and 1/4 steer tube what is stoping you from using a ahead system? Just preference?

I have several Marin's that are in pretty good shape if the situation does not work it's self out.

MTBcoach, you going to the summit?

I am riding a Alpinestars AL-900.

My steerer tube is to short for the ahead set system.

Nobody makes a fork with an 1 1/4" steer tube, means I would have to adapt down to 1 1/8"

King makes a headset for this conversion but it is pricey, new stem, then add in a new fork, new brakes ( cantalevers don't work on new forks, I don't like V-brakes ) it starts becoming an expensive thing.
