Sometimes being old and slow is a life saver
You ever have one of those times where you see something and counted your lucky stars?
Last night I was out in Scottsdale and saw the weirdest thing. At an intersection the light turned green. Both lead cars waited 2 seconds and then proceeded to cross the intersection when all of a sudden the car in the fast lane stopped. The lead car on the slow lane is a senior citizen and took her some time to get moving when the light turned green. Those precious few seconds of waiting saved her life in my opinion.
The vehicle in the fast lane noticed that an approaching car was going to run the light and stopped. The older lady delay of accelerating prevented her from being T-boned and instead clipped the rear end of the vehicle that crossed the red light which caused what looked like a controllable slide, followed by a smooth role over and back on its wheels. The senior citizen vehicle just had her front bumper ripped but it didn't cause a lot of dammage or moved her car from her direction of travel. It happen so fast that I believe she didn't realize it. I do not believe that she would have seen the oncoming vehicle due to the vehicle in the fast lane covering her view.
So stay safe out there and remember to look before crossing. That means even if you have a green light.
Cheers,
