Re: Sometimes being old and slow is a life saver
I was almost that old lady many years ago. Cruising along in the right lane, with a vehicle on my immediate left. We were both going the same speed (~25 mph) waiting for the light in front of us to turn green. I was focused on the light getting ready to change. I couldn't see to the left past the vehicle there, the light changed green and we both started to accelerate. Just as the vehicle to my left got to the intersection, they jammed hard on the brakes, I reacted the same way, not knowing why other than they must have done it for a reason.... lucky me for reacting that way. Still hard on the brakes, a vehicle (which I never saw until it was literally in front of me) blew thru their red light past the car on my left and just missed me. Phew, had to clean out my pants after that one. I learned a lesson that day some 25 years ago.
