If it crunched and hopped going onto the trailer it *sounds* like you're missing teeth off one/both of the gears. If a bearing was completely seized, it would most likely just drag the rear end. If a bearing was spun, it *should* still roll normally, it just wouldn't move under power.
I'll be interested to hear the answer from Jason.
