This is exactly how I feel about my Multistrada. They may not be much in the face, but boy are they great for the long haul and carving the twisties. When I went to the Tail of the Dragon last year I put 1500 miles on the Multi in 3 days. I highly recommend that anyone looking for a Sport Touring bike check out the Multi. We have a lot of R1200GS converts  Personally, I think they are both great bikes. I was sold on the soul of a Duc.
