i would replace the factory head unit and throw an external amplifier in the mix. if you want to keep the stock head unit though, you can use a line output converter (LOC). you connect the LOCs input wires to the output wires on the head unit for the speakers you want to amplify. then you run rca's into the other side of the LOC. some are a 4 channel, some are a high to low converter for a subwoofer. some amplifiers, like the kickers accept a speaker wire input which would be perfect for this situation. no need for a converter with that amplifier.
