If your from the low country the altitude can get you. I learned that the hard way. Ouray is about 8000 ft and some of the passes are around 13000 ft. You may want to do a little research on altitude sickness prevention. I now I'm taking the altitude more serious this time.
Kent is absolutely right. If you're not used to it, it can hit you hard and fast. We added Pedialyte (unflavored) to our water bottles for an extra boost.
If you've never dealt with it, do the research and read up on it a bit. There are easy ways to prevent it if you educate yourself and prepare.

Sidenote:Kent, it was you that had the altitude issue out near Imogene last year? If so, it was me that brought over the water/pedialyte mix for you. I never put it together until now, but we spoke/kept tabs on each other during the drive out to Ouray from Canada/Detroit...but never did actually meet face to face when we got there. Huh, what a small world! Have a great trip this year!!
