How did you remove the hose from below?

I got mine completed today and it was much easier for me to disconnect the transmission breather hose from its origin on the transmission instead of trying to remove the breather cap from the hose. Even after I got the hose off, I couldnt get the cap to budge. It took all of two minutes to remove the other end of the 6 inch hose from below....and I kept the skin on my arms this time.
