DRLs fire up Aux lights
I installed 2 sets of aux lights on my roof bar and used two relays, one for each pair, linked into one OEM light switch. Originally I took the Switch feed direct to the battery and this allowed me to turn the lights on and off at will - regardless of any lights or the ignition being on. ALL WAS FINE - NO PROBLEMS. I decided though, that I wanted to ONLY be able to turn on the lights when the Hi Beams were on so I tapped the switch feed into the Hi Beam fuse in the main fusebox under the hood. everything is still fine and I have a choice - I can leave the switch in the ON position and the aux lights only fire up when I flash my Hi Beams, or I can leave the switch in the OFF position and just flash the OEM Hi Beams. HOWEVER, if I leave the switch in the ON position, when I start up the FJ and the DRL's light up, they fire up the Aux lights too, (without the hibeams on). I can either Flash the hi beams or push the switch to OFF to turn off the Aux lights - just as I normally would.
Q: Anyone know why they're firing up with the DRLs?
