Just FYI, the trails are actually on BLM land and therefore do not require a permit. In order to access the trails, you have to cross State Trust Land. A permit is required in this area ($20 per year per family) only if you stop.

My guess would be that Mr. Burke is planning on holding meetings in State Trust Land areas (or airing down, etc) so you would be wise to follow the advice of the OP. I was merely mentioning it to those who may be visiting or live in this area and don't currently have the permit.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good thing to have as it makes life more convenient, but it isn't an absolute necessity to run the trails in the Florence Junction area.
