As far as getting in/out of the FJ I've had no problems. I'm of the mid 50's vintage. I find it harder getting in/out of a car because they sit so low. My friend has a Honda Element and he really likes it but he's always drooling over my FJ. I know he wants one. My brother who is a year older than me and has never stayed in shape has a terrible time getting in/out of his Grand Prix. He needs to buy an FJ to get some height. He can slide in and out of mine with no problem. I say go for it.
