As far as getting in/out of the FJ I've had no problems. I'm of the mid 50's vintage. I find it harder getting in/out of a car because they sit so low. My friend has a Honda Element and he really likes it but he's always drooling over my FJ. I know he wants one. My brother who is a year older than me and has never stayed in shape has a terrible time getting in/out of his Grand Prix. He needs to buy an FJ to get some height. He can slide in and out of mine with no problem. I say go for it.
I'm only 5'7" and was thrilled at how easy it is get in and out of the FJ. I drove a Neon while in college... that thing was NOT great to get in and out. My previous vehicle was an Escape, and that thing was harder to get in than my FJ, even though it's a bit lower. I think trying to get a foot over the lip when the door is so short has something to do with it. It wasn't bad, but I could feel it when I was really tired. The flat FJ floor is nice.
