I just want to add to the factory stereo so I can get better sound, higher volume, better bass, and not risk blowing the exsisting speakers. Maybe it's just a pipe dream and can't be done, but I'd like to hear what the hive mind has to say about it.

Sounds like you don't have the 9 speaker factory setup with the sub so I would say install a sub woofer and that would cover the bass end. I have the 9 speaker system and I'm happy with it.
