Wheeling in NC, SC, east TN, GA area

Next week is spring break and I really want to take a day or over night trip wheelin somewhere quasi local. I live in Charlotte, NC and am tenitively planning a trip to the atlanta aquarium and wanted to get some wheelin' in on the way.

Anybody know of any places that are OPEN to do some wheelin? Preferbly in Western NC, East Tennessee (not tellico), North to midstate GA, and mid to western SC

Thanks for any and all help!
