Does this trip require any special permits ?

I'm sure if you want a crowd, you can post up and get plenty of folks to come along.

Like I said, I am serious about it if I can arrange my workload around it.
Yep, a permit is needed, obtainable in advance on the net at canyonlands np. Here's the agenda: 9/7 doing Fins-n-Things and/or Hells Revenge, 9/8 at Teapot camp via Hans Flat Ranger Station, 9/9,10 at The Wall camp, 9/11,12 at The Dollhouse C camp, 9/13 at Sunset Pass camp, 9/14 R&R in Moab via Flint Trail to Hite, 9/15,16 Peekaboo camp in the Needles-Elephant Road is a must do type of thing, 9/17,18 in Monticello playing golf at The Hideout-A very nice and challenging coarse.
