Places to eat drink.
Gray's Papaya Hot dog (best hotdog in the world). There are several located through out the city. Like 8ths street and 6th Ave. (CHEAP)

Have some DIM SUM in China Town. (Really Cheap) but get there before noon, if not they run out.

McSorley's Old Ale House oldest ale house in NYC. This place is going to be outta control on St Patty's day.

you are SOOOO LUCKY. you need 2 weeks to see everything there.
dont forget Time Square....and if you like broadway or off broadway theatre you can get tickets for 1/2 price the same day of the show at the booth right there in the middle of times square.
Camillas ( i think thats the name of it) italian food is AWESOME and is there near the theatre district. they serve (literally) turkey platters of pasta in the most delicious combinations. always packed!

Little Italy.....i think its called Pattys or Pats? been awhile but whatever the name you cant go wrong with any italian in little italy. about 13 years ago i was eating there with family and saw dick clark. we called him over to our table and invited him to have some wine with us.....he actually stood and talked to us for about 20 minutes. really nice guy and he looked just as good in person as he ever did/does on tv.

chelsea district, tri-beca, SoHo are all really fun areas.
central park! lots of museams around the area.

of course as mentioned GROUND ZERO is very sureal. was there a few years ago and its strange in that......unlike the rest of NYC in which you hear car horns and people/activity 24 hrs a day.......you can almost hear a pin drop in and around the area. it was almost like out of respect.....folks didnt honk horns.....everyone walked around reading and taking pictures, crying...paying tribute. it may have changed now but it was nice to see and go to.

if you are interested in john lennon its kind of cool to see the Dakota (where he lived and was shot) 1 block from central park and you can visit STrawberry Fields. nice area right around there too. i'm posting a link about central park but not sure if it will come up on the forum or not.

oh yeah........one more place that usually blows people away is Wall Street and the financial district. (the bull statue). you'd think the area should be huge since its almost the center of our universe but it really only takes up a few city blocks. its close to ground zero so you can drive by.
study the subway maps and use them.......its cool and a cheap way to travel all over the city!
