Yeah, you can do that. But I prefer to put a set of turned rotors on with the new pads. I find there is no "break-in" period for them to match up, and the pads last longer when you start with a nice flat surface on turned rotors. So typically I buy an extra set of rotors and pads to keep on the shelf in the shop. Then when I hear the dreaded "brakes need changing" noise, I just have to do the routine..
I think that brakes are pretty important and worth a few bucks..
