Re: OK Am I nuts?
I'm a fairly hardcore internet shopper/researcher and from my experience the internet sales folks (auto dealers) are a joke. When I eventually bought an FJ the internet sales guy calls me as I'm making the deal in the office; some five days after I ask for a quote.. Ron

Wait, don't answer that...just yet....
I am shopping for an FJ. I emailed one dealer who then emailed me back. As indicated elsewhere, I have several colors I want but prefer Sandstorm...I want manual, but that isn't that much of a sticking point, and want the offroad package if possible, but definitely want a locking diff...want a roof rack and trailer hitch...love the steel wheels but they seem as rare as hens' teeth so I am likely to not get those.
Dude at internet department of Lackadaisical Toyota (not their real name) emails me back...this is the same dude who had earlier told me they had no Sandstorms with manual trans and steelies in the ENTIRE CONTINENTAL US...now he says he found the CAR I WANT...
He emails me a picture lifted from the brochure and says that is my car...
It is Silver, is an automatic, has all the foo foo options like running boards, billet pedal covers, atomic powered, leather-coated ashtrays, etc.,
It is missing some things I want that are expensive like roof rack, rock rails, trailer hitch...
And it is used...he calls it a "brass hat demo" which he translates to mean an "executive" drove it...for 6 months and 4,000 miles...
Now, if this were for sale for $22k I'd be all over it. Trouble is, homeboy wants $28k for his gussied up rig, and tells me I am being unreasonable as that is "4k off sticker" and he "doesn't know what I am thinking" if I don't find that a good deal...on a used rig.
OK, my thought is this guy is nuts and this is a terrible deal, for me or anyone else. Who knows how it was driven, who this "executive" was, how it was maintained, and can't I pretty much buy a new one for less than that with everything I want on it?
Am I nuts? For telling this guy where to stick his "executive demo" I mean?
