Jake: Go to the BBQ! And WTF is that avatar of yours? I know what it is but why
Doc what can we bring for sides and what kinda of beer would you like to drink?
|
I'm personally partial to various kinds of microbrew, ales, lagers, porters... anything rich. I don't drink a lot of light beer. I think I'll be obtaining a supply of "chili beer" as my contribution to the beer supply... I'm really not extremely picky.
As for sides, Anything goes. Several people will probably be interested in bringing stuff so there will probably be plenty to go around. Do whatever you think of. That goes for anyone.

Same here, I suck at cooking though, but I can bring chips, cookies, plates, cups - you name it, I'll bring it.
Also, its hard to keep track of who's who when you all have the same avatar.

Plates and cups and such... not a bad idea. I'll post again in a couple of hours after I get through to Linda and ask how our supply is. We had stacks and stacks last I checked, but then again... they tend to disappear.

I may be able to lend some insight. Do you have everything you're going to need? Is he replacing the axle seal while you're in there? Often forgotten, sometimes regretted.

That's actually a really good point! I don't know if the stock part comes with a seal on it, but the one that I used was a USED part that had a perfectly intact seal in place. We have a few options, but the biggest question is whether or not there's one in place on the spare already. There are 3 parts on this assembly which are probably designated as "one-time" use. These include the C-clip, the seal at the differential housing, and the seal at the knuckle.
The seal on the knuckle is press-fit into the knuckle, so it's not going to be on the spare axle. If I'm remembering correctly though, the seal at the other end, where the tulip joint plugs in, RETAINS the seal when the part comes out. As long as we don't cheese it up, if we have to move it from one axle to another, we can do that. Otherwise we'd have to go get one.
The C clip is a reusable part. If the new axle doesn't have one, we can unsnap the old one and move it over.
Wes? Can you take a look?

What the he**! I must have missed out on a lot of action while I was gone. I always thought I was due for one and I have been reading up on the CV change for when the unfortunate happens. So if you all don't mind then I would like to be there for this from the beginning to take notes and pictures.
Cheers,

You're more than welcome!

I'd like to make it up there. Any room for one more body chop?
|
I'm thinking we can do one or two things in parallel. I KNOW I can do a chop pretty fast and I have everything I need. Tibaal's project will take a little bit longer than just a chop, but I bet it won't be horrendous. Ed just needs a chop. Wes's project will be the voyage of discovery, but it should go quite a bit faster than mine did!
The worst case scenario is that we don't get it done at this time... in which case we'll git'er'done next time.

I may be able to make this as well if there's still enough BBQ to go around.

THE ONE THING I CAN GUARANTEE... is that there will be enough meat.
