Before you exchanged it, I was going to ask if it had another air flow adjustment (screw) on it other than the dial. My cheapies from Harbor Freight do.

I've been tempted to post my 2cents about Craftsman products and their lack of quality nowadays. I guess this is as good of a time as any. Has anybody else noticed that Craftsman isn't what it used to be. Growing up, my father had Craftman hand tools and swore by them due to the guarantee. Of course, I used and abused many of his tools growing up. Then, when I was on my own and could afford my own tools, I first looked to purchase Craftsman and was dissappointed in the quality. Now, nearly all decent value-priced tool brands have good lifetime warranties and I have found several lesser expensive brands that surpass Craftsman's current quality.
