Re: Another newbie question...

I was up in the air also when I bought my FJ. Which FJ upgrade should I get? I decided on the off-road package. A lot of opinions that I read said that the stereo upgrade is a piece of crap... if you care about sound, don't buy it from Toyota but upgrade after. That is something I care about, so the 9 speaker system with sub was something I was going to trash down the road. Why pay for that? The offroad pakage gives you a lot of options. I will not be doing a lot of hardcore offroading but my ride will taste dirt. The Billstein shocks will give me a better feel for the bumps and potholes that I will come across offroad than stock suspension. Also, I acknowledge that the BF Goodridge Mud Terrain have a lot to be desired; tire life and road noise especially. Once they die, I will replace with the BF Goodrich All Terrain TA/KO. I have had these tires in the past on my Jeep Wrangler and could not be happier with their life/noise/and off road performance. But the Mud Terrains are not that noisy. Of course I came from a Jeep so opinions on noise can be ignored. Also, 16" rims are cheeper to fit than 17". I have only had my FJ for a week, but I have found that the off road is not bad on the road... noise is negligible and the handle is fine. It has not been off pavement yet, but I feel that when it is, she willl live up to all my expectations.
