Changed the Rear Diff Oil/ older model
Well my build date was June 06, I've got 21K on my rig, and it was time to investigate the rear diff oil. Greyish, definitely not clean, possible water infiltration, maybe 3 small shavings and some sludge on the magnet. Hey it's a rear differential, I didn't expect the gear oil to come out clear. I put in some cheap 75-90 to flush her out and will be putting some Royal Purple in after this weekend, going wheelin' in Mass through some deeper water so we'll do the swap after to check and see. Very easy on the FJ to maintain the rear end so don't hesitate to do it yourself. My detail/oil change shop wanted $59.00 to do the rear diff with me supplying the gear oil. Bull crap. So for those with older build dates I didn't have any more than a couple shavings and some sludge after 21K.
