Buy in Nor Cal, but register in Oregon?
Hi All, this is my first post.
After many years living overseas, I'm finally coming home. I live in Jacksonville in Southern Oregon, but am flying into San Francisco in July. I want to pick up an 08 4x4 with the convenience package and upgrade package #2. Invoice seems to be around $26K. Reading around the forums and the net, I've realized that it may be hard to get a good deal in the Pacific Northwest so I was thinking about buying it in the Bay Area and heading on up to Oregon. Here are my questions:
How should I go about getting the ball rolling on this before I get to California? And if I buy it in California, but I'm a resident of Oregon and want to register it in Oregon, am I exempt from the California sales tax? Is $26K a reasonable price to shoot for? Any and all input is much appreciated. Can't wait to get back.
