They do breathe, air molecules are smaller that water molecules. No to mention neoprene doesn't transfer heat well, so the seat doesn't get hot from you sitting on it. It will get warm but not hot. Also in the winter they don't get icy cold either. I love mine, they also add a nice bit of cushion to the seat as well. The reason they are popular is they are well made, custom cut for your vehicle model and quality materials. One of the best investments I made.
