No, they replaced the unit that contains the ring and pinion. Look at the rear pumpkin, it is the front part of it where the drive shaft attaches. That whole unit unbolts and that is what they replace, instead of replacing just your ring and pinion. And yes, I am sure you will get the latest batch, although I am not sure if they are any stronger. Good luck hope everything works out for you.
