Re: Buy in Nor Cal, but register in Oregon?

Longo Toyota claims that you need to get a permit from the state which takes 3-4 weeks in order to drive out of California. Plus they say that you need to pay California (8+%!!!!!) sales tax, and you have to pay in cash (not even a cashier's check... but cash), and pay full MSRP.

They sure move a lot of cars at Longo, but I've never dealt with a bigger bunch of a-holes in my whole life. Hopefully you can find a California dealer that is reasonable. Another one tried to nail me with sales tax even though I was having the truck shipped to me. It was never even touching the road in California and they tried to tack on sales tax.

I would shop around in Medford and the surrounding area, even up in Eugene or Salem before I bought from a California dealer. Just get a price quote from Cali and get one of the Oregon dealerships to match. If you must buy in California just make sure you get everything in writing and run it by the gang here first to make sure they aren't misquoting their state laws (which happens a lot I've found).
