That was my recollection. Makes sense, if you think about it - since CB is essentially unlicensed, repeating it on licensed spectrum could in effect be sidestepping licensing (and the fairly reasonable set of rules that go with licensed spectrum use).

Any period spent listening to the junk on ch 19 in a high traffic area will make clear the advantage, I think.

In the long run, however, having a 2m station at headquarters for important stuations or improved coordination could be a good idea for us to pursue as a group. And it could be staffed by a bunch of folks taking turns, while adding another 'safety' layer to make the Ouray public officials that much happy with us as a group.
