Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

Well, I'm not going to have time for a while to actually mount the jack and take pictures, but here's the next best thing.

...I did attach one of the mounts to my rack by itself and was pleased. It might be my imagination, but I'm thinking my OEM rack tubes might not be perfectly round. The mounts seem to fit horizontally, but not veritcally. Stange. I'm sure I could bolt them down and force them on either way as the difference was slight.

Regarding the quality of the product...this being the only mount I've inspected thus far, I would say they are just fine, particularly for $10 each. You'll notice in the pictures that the powder coat is a little scuffed in one place. Also, one of the two mounts is very slightly misaligned when bolted down (you can't see it with the naked eye, but you can feel it). I'm confident that the aluminum tubes will have adequate flex to accommodate this small imperfection.

Here's a question (2 actually)...how tight do you clamp these down and is there any way to prevent scratching the powder coating on the FJ roof rack when using such mounts?
