I think this boils down to the fact that no matter what, you can't please everyone. If we made it "premium member" then people would complain that we are saying that these members are "more important" then the other members. Ultimately, everyone is going to take offense or perhaps think that there is a better alternative. We eventually have to make a decision and pick something
and "Supporting Member" sounds just as good as anything else to me.
