Guess I can be the first to offer a comment / review of your service to an FJ owner.

First I will begin by offering that I have been a Discount Tire customer for over 25 years for both personal and business fleet vehicles. I will also say that not all those years were hassle free, but Discount Tire (or more specifically their store managers) have always worked hard to right any situation that has developed. (Kevin Posey worked the hardest over the years to keep my business)

When we bought our new FJ in November ’07 it was a forgone conclusion that it would be “tricked out” and Discount Tire was the first stop for the new AR “Thug” Teflon coated wheels and the Nitto Terra Grapplers tires. Naturally the tires and wheels would not fit a stock height FJ so the lift was researched while the truck was in the body shop having the top paint matched. Decided on the height of the lift and then went and met with Michael at the Discount Tire @ 1130 West Elliot Road, Tempe, AZ 85284. (Michael put together the wheel/tire combination for my F350)

After the re greeting we told him about the new addition soon to be coming out of the paint booth and what we wanted to do with it. Since we expected the wheels to be a special order, (to get the proper back spacing to clear the calipers and not run wheel spacers) we knew they needed to get on it as soon as we could start the process. During the discussion he was the one that recommended the Nitto Terra Grapplers as a nice on and off road tire with low highway whine and mentioned that if we had not purchased the lift, he could assemble a package deal. While Discount doesn’t install lifts, they apparently do have a working relationship with dealers who sell aftermarket accessories and shops that can be recommended for installation. I was planning on installing the lift myself so we discussed prices. In the end, in the package of Tires/wheels and lift, we saved about 25% over buying all separately.

The lift arrived at the store about 3 days later, the FJ came home from the dealer the next weekend and I installed the lift and returned it to the dealer for alignment and the next week picked it from the dealer and drove straight to Discount Tire for the wheels and tires. Michael had them mounted/balanced and waiting when I arrived. In a half hour, it was ready.

While the process was not without one hiccup, AR sent the wrong center caps with the wheels which Michael caught early and rectified promptly, the end result is a great buying experience.
